As I said in a post after attending the NAACP Community Day last Saturday, there are so many organizations in our community who help make our lives better, especially for those individuals and families in need.
There is no more important issue facing our community now than the opioid crisis, including overdoses and overdose deaths. Last night I attended an event on this crisis sponsored by the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse at the Calvert Marine Museum to learn more about this crisis and what is being done to address it.
There were several presentations including Joe Windsor from the Sherrif's Office and Stephanie Newman from Calvert County Behavioral Health Services. They provided statistical evidence of the crisis but, more importantly, information on warning signs for families and where to go for help. Thanks to Candice D'Agostino, CAASA Coordinator, for sponsoring this important event.
